Henry Higgins, the professor of phonetics, is one of the outstanding characters that Shaw created. With his impetuous temper and enormous confidence in his own knowledge, he undertakes the incredible mission to transform an uncultured, ill-groomed flower girl, Eliza Doolittle, to a suave lady. Though he comes out with flying colours, the play does not strike the conventional romantic note.
